Hue & Cry, alongside Wet Wet Wet, Texas, and Deacon Blue, were one of Scotland’s most successful late '80s acts. Brothers Pat and Greg Kane formed the duo in 1983, scoring their biggest hit with “Labour of Love” from their debut album Seduced and Abandoned (1987). Follow-up albums Remote (1988), Bitter Suite (1989), and Stars Crash Down (1991) cemented their chart success before they shifted to more experimental work in the ’90s, exploring jazz, funk, and collaborations.
They returned in the 2000s with Open Soul (2008), Xmasday (2009), Hot Wire (2012), and Pocketful of Stones (2017), while also releasing collections and tributes such as September Songs (2015), honoring Frank Sinatra. Known for blending soulful pop with jazz and contemporary influences, Hue & Cry remain a distinctive voice in Scottish music.
